Porridge Bread, 2 sweet & 1 savoury version.
I have enclosed 2 Sweet & 1 Savoury Variations which can be easily made using the basic recipe. Hit the sweet craving with a nutritious oat bread for slow release energy & a chocolate hit. Or try the heart healthy walnut version. The savoury version is great for using up leftover cheese.
- 350 g Oats.
- 450 g natural yogurt, (large tub).
- 2 large eggs.
- 2 level tsp Bread soda, sieved.
- Pinch salt.
- 2 tbls Milk.

I’ve enclosed two gorgeous variations to give you a sweet option below & one savoury.
Dark Chocolate & Apricot Oat Bread.
- 130 g chopped dark chocolate.
- 1 tsp vanilla.
- 50g diced apricots.
- Combine just before cooking.
Raisin & Walnut Oat Bread.
- ½ tsp cinnamon.
- 100 g raisins.
- 60 g walnuts, chopped.
- Combine just before cooking.
Savoury Smoked Cheese & Herb Oat Bread.
- 25 g grated cheese.
- 1 tsp mixed herbs.
- Combine just before cooking.
- Method.
1. Mix the yoghurt, eggs & milk together.
2. Sieve the bread soda & salt into the oats.
3. Mix everything together.
4. Bake at 180 C for 50 mins in a lined loaf tin, remove from the tin & continue cooking for 10 mins. Cool before cutting.
